Hello everyone my name is Billy. I am coded "Yellow". I am 7 years old and I have been neutered.
I was in a home for 6 years but then my dad became ill with Dementia. He would shout and scream which scared me as I didn't understand why he had changed. Then one day, when he was putting me in the car a male stranger walked down the neighbouring path and I jumped out and nipped him on the leg. Following this my life completely changed as my mum was scared that this could happen again and my dad could no longer care for me properly whilst she was at work. The neighbour reported the incident to the police and my mum and dad were told they had to keep me on a muzzle and a lead which my dad didn't fully understand and so didn't do.
My mum had no choice but to return me to the The Border Collie Trust, I tried to be as brave as I could but the truth is I am heartbroken and missing a family to love me. After 9 months here nobody will even give me a chance because of what I did and the effect it's had on me trusting people. I am now worried by men as I don't know what they might do but given a chance and time I know I could learn to trust again. I am well behaved within the home and I am good in the car. I love all the staff here and they give me lots of walks and affection. I have even made friends with some work experience students and was fine going to the vets for my booster vaccination. All I need is a little space and understanding to help me with my fears and a home without children or other dogs.
Please someone give me a second chance and make my life complete again.
Just before I go you will need to come and visit me a few times and on the first meeting please don't try to touch me as I get very scared as I think you might hurt me. I have met a male stranger and because he didn't try to interact with me the first few meetings and allowed me to move at my own space I have decided I can trust him and he has now become my friend.

Skyler is coded "Yellow". We are told he is 2 years old but he is possible slightly older . He is an entire, black and white long coated collie. He came into our care from another rescue so we don't have any history on him as he was found as a stray.
He is a friendly boy but can get a little worried meeting new people and being over handled especially by men so would be better suited to a home without young children. He has been ok meeting other dogs but is a little over the top so may be too much for some. He has come from a rural location so isn't used to built up areas so will only require short walks in quiet areas until he gets used to new environments.

Chase is coded "yellow" he is a 7yr old neutered tri coloured short coated collie cross. He came into our care as he wasn't getting along with the other dog in the home.
Chase is a calm friendly boy and although has lived with young children would be better suited with those over the age of 10. He is housetrained, is ok being left alone for a few hours, knows basic commands and travels well. He ignores other dogs out on a walk but does chase cats.

Echo is coded "Yellow" He is a 3 year old neutered white and black medium coated Border Collie cross. He came into our care from another rescue after being found as a stray. When rescued he did have a break to his tail which has now been amputated.
He is a gentle boy but is shy on first meeting people and often tries to avoid interaction but given a little time he soon overcomes his fear and is very affectionate. He would be better suited to a calm home without young children.
Although overall ok meeting other dogs out on a walk he can sometimes be a little worried and then can become defensive so would be best as an only dog. He does chase cats.

Chase is coded "yellow" he is almost 2 years old, he is an entire black and white short coated collie.
Chase has been exposed to domestic violence and although his previous owner described him as a very affectionate boy that is good around children whilst in our care he has been a little unsure around staff, particularly men so he may require a little time and space to settle into a new home.
He is house trained, is good when left alone for 4 hours, responds well to basic commands, is good with other dogs and whilst not used to travelling was good on the journey to us.

Bodie is coded "Blue" he is a 1 year old entire black and white short coated collie. He originally came in to our care as his owner no longer had time for him due to work commitments. He then spent 4 months in another home but was returned as he would bark at visitors when they entered the home and on one occasion when a male visitor who was standing up suddenly laughed Bodie jumped up at him and mouthed his arm, the man grabbed his collar and in doing so Bodie bit his hand causing two puncture wounds.
Bodie is a shy boy and needs someone that understands him and is willing to introduce him to new experiences/environments gradually. Although he has lived with a 5yr old child in his original home we wouldn't house him with children under 12 yrs old.
He is housetrained, crate trained, is good when left alone, travels well and knows basic commands. He is fine around calm dogs but gets worried around boisterous ones so may be best as an only dog.

Harold is coded "yellow" he is a 2yr old entire black and white short coated collie cross. He came into our care from another rescue but we don't know his background. He did spend 4 days in a home but was returned as he was unsettled during the day, was very good when left alone overnight.
He is a confident friendly boy and should be fine around children. In the home he was clean overnight but did occasionally scent marked during the day, he travelled well but had to be lifted into a vehicle. He knows basic commands and is good around other dogs. He does sometimes lunge at traffic when out walking.

Ray is coded "Yellow" he is an 11 month old entire tri coloured short coated collie. He came into our care as he was food possessive around the other dog in the home and also chased and nipped at the owners 4 cats. He was then in another home for 6 weeks but was returned as his owners couldn't cope with a young dog as he would constantly seek attention and struggled being left alone.
He is a friendly boy and has happily lived with a 6yr old child. He is house trained, knows basic commands travels well and is ok meeting other dogs out on a walk but won't live with others.
He isn't really used to being left alone and in his original home did chew odd items when left for longer than an hour as they always had him with them even at night. (hasn't chewed anything in his kennel whilst in our care) He does lunge at traffic when out walking and can open doors.

Roxy is coded "blue" she is a 2 year old neutered tri coloured short coated collie. She originally came into our care from another rescue after being found as a stray. She then went into a home but was returned after 3 days as she wasn't getting along with other dog in the home so she will need to be an only dog.
Roxy did struggle living alongside another dog which had an impact on her overall behaviour and although fine with the female owner she did snap at the man when he reached out to handle her.
Roxy can be worried being handled so requires time and patience to learn to trust people. She would benefit from a calm home without children or other pets. Once she trusts someone she is very affectionate . Although she wouldn't live with other dogs she is good meeting others out on a walk.

Checkers is coded "yellow" he is a 15 month old entire black and white short coated collie cross. He came to us from another rescue, unclaimed stray.
He is a friendly boy but is slightly unsure being closely handled and is also worried by any sudden loud noise so would be better suited with children over 10 years old. He has been fine meeting other dogs whilst in our care and is clean in his kennel. He does tend to pull on a lead.

He is a happy friendly boy and should be suitable to live with children. He is good meeting other dogs, likes to play ball and knows very basic commands. When we walked him off site he did lunge at passing traffic and also at a cyclist.

Skye is coded "yellow" she is a 3 year old neutered black and white small collie. She came into our care from another rescue.
She was originally found in a derelict barn whelping puppies. The finder kept her and one of the pups but after Skye was neutered she began grumbling at visitors to the home, she also jumped at a neighbours face when she bent over her to fuss her, causing bruising to the ladies eye.
Skye has been fine towards all the staff here and initiates attention/fuss but when meeting strangers although she happily greets them if spooked she will snap. She is clean and settled in kennels and interacts well with other dogs.

Ralph is coded "Blue" he will be 3 years old in July he is a tri coloured medium coated collie cross. He was found straying and although chipped was never claimed.
Ralph is a nervous dog and will require an understanding/experienced owner that in the early days can give him the time and space he requires to gain trust in people as if worried he could snap but once he has builds a relationship with someone is a gentle friendly boy. He would be better suited to a quiet household without children.
He travelled well on a long journey to our care but was crated. On arrival he was nervous around staff and the following day was very stressed and did have a small seizure but this may have all been stress related as he has been fine since and the previous kennels said he had been fine whilst in their care.
Ralph has settle well with us and will now approach staff members and wag his tail and initiate contact.
He wouldn't live with a cat.

Jan is coded "yellow" she is a 6 year old entire black and white short coated collie. She has lived on a farm all her life apart from recently when she was purchased to live in a family home but sadly one of the owners cat took a dislike to her so she has now come into our care.
She is a calm quiet girl and took to living indoors very well apart from being a little unsure of "beeping" sounds. She is almost house trained but her previous owner used puppy pads which Jan did toilet on. She is good when left alone, travels well and is good around other dogs and cats. We are told she has been fine around young children but we feel she would be better with those that are slightly older as she is a little shy.
She will only require short walks in quiet areas to begin with as she isn't yet used to life outside of the farm environment.

He is a calm and gentle boy but can initially be a little shy meeting new people so although he has met young children he may be better living with those that are slightly older.
He is house trained, is calm and quiet in the home, is good when left alone for a few hours, travels well, knows basic commands and is good around other dogs. Chases cats.
