Jonah

Male 5 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Jonah is coded "blue" he is a 5 year old neutered tri coloured short coated collie. He originally came into our care as his owners were expecting a baby.

Jonah is a nervous boy and when in a home has snapped/bitten when being handled. He needs an experienced collie owner that understands a dogs body language so he isn't put in situations he's unable to cope with that may cause him to react. He needs a quiet household without any children and at the most two people living within the home. Will only require short walks in quiet areas until he gains trust in his owner and gets used to new surroundings.

He is housetrained, is good when left alone, travels well, knows basic commands, tends to ignore other dogs and loves to play with toys. He does chase cats and will sometimes lunge at traffic when out walking.

MAY REQUIRE MORE THAN ONE VISIT.

Bryn

Male 5 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Bryn is coded "Blue" he is a 5 year old entire black and white short coated collie. He was in a home for 3 years but was returned as he started to growl at his elderly owner when he asked him to do anything, fine with everyone else. He then spent 3 days in another home but was returned as he barked and lunged towards another dog and when the owner pulled him back he redirected onto the mans leg causing a puncture wound. He was then in another home for 8 days but bit his owners hand when she suddenly grabbed his collar to prevent him jumping at the garden fence as the neighbours dog was barking. We haven't had any issues with him since he's been back in our care.

Bryn is a friendly boy but he does get easily stressed so would be better in a calm home without any children and with an owner that understands his background and won't put him in situations he finds difficult. He is also food possessive so care needs to be taken in this area.

He is housetrained, well behaved within the home, travels well, is ok with most other dogs if introduced properly (wouldn't live with others) and knows basic commands.

Amara

Female 4 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Amara is coded "yellow" she is a 4 year old entire black and white short coated collie. She came into our care from a rescue in Wales after being found as a stray.

When she first arrived she was very fearful of being handled but now she knows the staff she is very friendly towards us. She is still worried meeting strangers particularly men and will need an owner that understands her fearful behaviour and can give her the time and space she needs to gain confidence.

Amara is also worried around other dogs and has snapped when in close contact.

Amara did spend one month in a home but was returned due to the ill health of her owners wife. She settled well with the two adults in the home but out on walks did bark and growl at strangers and other dogs that were too close to her. She was clean overnight but did sometimes toilet indoors during the day.

Needs a quiet home without children or regular visitors.

Has met the centre cats and is shy and wary around them.

WILL REQUIRE SEVERAL VISITS OVER A SHORT SPACE OF TIME SO SHE REMEBERS PEOPLE. PLEASE BOOK THESE DATES AT THE TIME OF RESERVATION.

Jasper

Male 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Jasper 4923 is coded "yellow" he will be 2 years old in October. He came in to our care from another kennels after being rescued from a hoarding situation.

Upon arrival he had to be carried into the kennels in the crate he travelled in as he was petrified of human contact and would snap through fear if handled.

It took staff 2 months of just sitting in his kennel before he gained enough trust to approach and accept being lightly touched/stroked under his head and chest. It took 6 months before we were able to get a slip lead over his head and this was so traumatic for him it took a few weeks of allowing him to get used to it being on him all the time before we attempted to get him outdoors for a walk.

He has now been with us for 11 months and will happily greet staff and initiate play. He will happily go out for a walk around our grounds and enjoys interacting with other dogs. However he is still unsure being touched around his neck and goes into a complete panic and reverts back to snapping, therefore we haven't been able to get a collar on him.

Jasper needs an experienced owner that understands dogs body language and calming signals and wont push him into situations he finds difficult leaving him with no other option but to snap or worse still bite in order to protect himself. Jasper is a sweet boy and would only snap if felt threatened being handled.

He needs a calm home without children in a quiet location and would benefit from living with another dog.

IDEALLY WE WOULD LIKE TO FIND HIM A HOME WITHIN A 20 MILE RADIUS OF OUR CENTRE.

Miah

Female 5 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Miah is coded "yellow" she is a 5 year old short coated collie. She originally came into our care from another rescue we are told she spent a short time in a foster home. Miah spent 4 months in another home but was returned due to a change in her owners circumstances resulting in them no longer being able to give her the time she deserved. Miah was then in a home for 5 days but was returned as at times she would become unsettled in the home/garden, owner thought it mat have been when she heard traffic ?

Miah is a confident friendly girl and should be suitable to live with children over 8 years old. She knows basic commands, responds well to her name, is housetrained and is good when left alone for up to 6 hours. Here she has been ok around other dogs but a little bossy and snappy in close contact but in both homes they said she would often bark and lunges at other dogs she saw out on walks. She does chase/stalk cats and when out walking will lunge at passing traffic so needs an owner strong enough to hold her back. Restless in a vehicle and does sometimes bark at passing traffic.

Buddy

Male 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Buddy is coded "blue" he is an 18 month old neutered tri coloured medium coated collie. he came into our care from his own home as he had started to growl and snarl at the male owner, we are told the male owner was very harsh towards him and had smacked him ? Buddy had always been fine with the female owner and their young son.

He did spent 3 weeks living with a male behaviourist but we don't have any information on this.

Buddy is a nervous boy but if given time and space is fine with people, he gets worried if people approach him head on and when strangers reach out to touch him, he will approach people in his own time. Buddy did bite a dog walker/trainer on the hand when he went to grab him by the collar so we wouldn't home him with children.

Buddy is housetrained, is fine being left alone for odd hours, travels well and responds to basic commands. His previous owner said he interacted well with other dogs but whilst in our care his behaviour has been variable and he often barks and lunges at those he sees out on a walk but this could be stressed related. Does chases cats.

Although there isn't anything mentioned in his history when we have a shut a door or gate on Buddy he jumps at it barking and snarling but is fine again once it is opened, neither will he go in an indoor kennel/crate.

Buddy is looking for a quiet home and if possible with no more than two people. In view of his behaviour around strangers we also feel it will be necessary to rehome him locally as he will require 2/3 visits. (within 20 miles of our centre - WS15 3LY)

Corrie

Male 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Corrie is coded "yellow" he is a 2 year old entire tri coloured short coated collie. He spent the first year and half of his life on a farm in a quiet area. He then went to live with a family but he found it difficult to adapt to living in a busy area with lots of people/children around.

Corrie is a nervous boy and due to being on a rural farm for most of his life hasn't been socialised with people or in residential areas both of which he finds stressful. Corrie is much more relaxed around women but does struggle around men and will often alarm bark and lunge forward if feels threatened.

Corrie needs an owner that understands his fears and can give him time and space to adapt to a new life. His previous owner said when walked in quiet areas away from people and traffic he was calm and relaxed but found busy build up areas too much and would pull excessively on the lead to get away from things.

He needs a calm household preferably with women and no children and may benefit from living with another dog. He is housetrained, is good when left alone for 4 hours, travels well, has been fine around our centre cats and is good around other dogs just tends to ignore them.

Ozzie

Male 3 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Ozzie is coded "yellow" he is a 3 year old neutered black and white short coated collie cross. He came into our care as his owners felt their home was too busy for him, they also lived in a highly populated area with several dogs around which again Ozzie struggled with.

Ozzie is a little shy and is easily worried if strangers approach him head on to try and fuss him so we wouldn't home him with children under 13 years old. He is also wary around other dogs and when out walking if he sees others he does bark and lunge towards them, in his previous home he did go to socialising classes and mixed off lead with other dogs.

He is housetrained, knows basic commands and travels well in the car.

Mac

Male 4 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Mac is coded "blue" he is a 4 year old neutered black and white short coated collie cross. He was returned to us after 4yrs in a home as he escaped from the house and nipped an 8yr old child on the leg did break the skin, following this incident he then started to nip/snap at the owners grandchildren.

Mac is a shy boy and will need an owner that won't be too hands on with him in the early days until he settles and learns to trust people. His previous owner said he sometimes would back away and try to hide when they went to put a lead on him.

He is housetrained, is good when left alone for 4/6hrs, travels well and responds to basic commands. Mac would be better suited to a quiet household without children or regular visitors.

Smudge

Male 9 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Smudge is coded 'Blue' he is a 9 year old black and white medium coated neutered border collie cross. He came to us from another rescue, originally he was from Ireland, where he had always lived outside. The previous rescue did rehome him but he was returned after 5 days as he kept jumping at the living room window barking at dogs/people that walked passed.

He is shy boy and can be worried around new people so needs an owner that understands his behaviour and who can give him time, patience and space to settle into a new home. He would be better suited to a calm home in a quiet location so he doesn't get wound up by outside noises.

Smudge can be reactive when he sees other dogs and in close contact does snap. He also chases cats.

He has been clean in our kennels and previous owner said he was housetrained within a few days.

MAY REQUIRE MORE THAN ONE VISIT

Jasper

Male 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you

Jasper is coded "yellow" he will be 2 years old in December. He is a tri coloured short coated neutered collie. He came into our care from another rescue, we are told he was too lively for his owners ?

On arrival Jasper was very worried and did bark and growl at the male transporter and also at a male member of staff, did allow female staff member to remove him from the van and happily went for a short walk.

Jasper happily greets staff that enter his kennel and interacts well with handler when out walking but if he sees other staff even though he knows them he does sometimes alarm bark at them but when in close contact is fine. When introduced to strangers he has again barked and lunged at them.

Jasper needs a quiet household without children or regular visitors and an owner that understands his fearful behaviour and wont put him in situations he may find difficult

He does respond to basic commands and if given time and space is affectionate. Will bark at other dogs when out walking and in close contact his behaviour is variable. Chases cats.

Since being in our care his behaviour has gone from that of a very worried dog to being excessively boisterous, this is possibly a displacement behaviour from being stressed and unsure how to react to things.

She is a confident friendly girl and should be suitable to live with children over 8 years old. She tends to stalk other dogs she sees out on a walk and in close contact tolerates them, she also chases cats so may be best as an only pet.
