ROXY: THE POWER BALLAD

Cue the synths. Hit the smoke machine. Roll the neon lights…

Every great 80s music video has a heroine who’s been through a tough chapter, picked herself back up and is ready for her next big adventure.

At 5½ years old, Roxy has found herself looking for a new home after her owner had to leave her accommodation and sadly couldn’t take Roxy with her.

Now she’s waiting for someone to give her the fresh start she deserves.

THE GOOD STUFF

Housetrained – no drama, no remix required.

Happy being left for 4+ hours

Good with visitors – she may announce their arrival with a few barks at the door, but once introductions are over, she interacts well with people coming into the home.

Has met children aged 10 and 12 and was fine with them.

EVERY ROCK STAR HAS HER RIDER…

Roxy does have some things her new family will need to understand.

She has previously been crated when left during the day and overnight, but she can guard her crate when approached. For that reason, a crate may not be the best choice in her new home.

We've also been told that Roxy may guard her food bowl, so she will need sensible management around food and her own space while eating.

Other dogs are Roxy's biggest challenge. Roxy was attacked by another dog a few years ago, and her owner noticed a change in her behaviour afterwards. She can bark and lunge at dogs while on lead and may be snappy if another dog gets too close. She'll therefore need an understanding home prepared to manage her carefully around other dogs and give her the space she needs.

She's looking for someone who can understand her quirks, respect her boundaries and help her feel secure again.

The final verse hasn't been written yet…

Maybe Roxy's greatest hit could be coming home with you.

Mabel (RESERVED)

Female 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

As you may have noticed this lovely girl is not, in fact, a Border Collie. She somehow made the journey over from Ireland and into our rescue before anyone asked too many questions, so now we’re simply rolling with it!

She was given up by her owner, where she was reportedly a little bossy with the other dog in the house and could guard her toys. She later spent time in foster care and was said to be very good with the children there but did snap at the grandmother.

Since arriving with us, she has been a little shy meeting people but quickly warmed up to staff and happily sought affection and attention. She has also walked nicely alongside another dog and is settling into kennel life well.

She did spend one night in a home but was returned the following morning as when she was out in the garden she snapped at the female owners arm causing a tooth scrape and also tore a small hole in her top.

Mabel would be better suited to a calm quiet home without young children, Hopefully there’s someone out there willing to forgive her for not being a Border Collie!

Trudy

Female 4 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Trudy will be 5 yrs old in October. She was rescued in Romania from a kill shelter along with her pups. We are told Trudy spent 18 months in a foster home before coming to us but this was a rescue foster where the dogs just have free roam of outdoors.

Trudy then spent 9 months in a home but was returned as she snapped on two occasions and bit the female owner on the knee when another dog approached and caused an altercation with Trudy (owner put her knee between the two dogs)

Trudy is a nervous girl and requires a quite home with someone that understands her background and will give her time to adjust to new environments and experiences. She requires short walks in quiet areas to prevent her getting too over whelmed by everything which is what happened in her last home causing her to react to people and other dogs out on a walk due to fear.

Billie

Female 7 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Pull on your boots, tune up the old guitar and meet our country girl, Billie

Billie’s 7 years old, and right now she’s hoping there’s a new home somewhere down the road with her name on the gate.

Billie came into our care after she snapped towards her owner’s 3-year-old child on two occasions, although no contact was made. She’s a friendly girl, but because of those incidents and the fact that Billie can resource guard her food, we’re looking for a home without young children where her boundaries can be understood and respected.

A LITTLE ABOUT OUR COUNTRY GAL

Housetrained – Billie knows her home manners.

Good when left alone – she’s happy to kick back and enjoy a little peace and quiet.

Travels well – if there’s an open road and an adventure ahead, Billie’s ready to ride shotgun.

Other dogs – Billie previously mixed with other dogs at doggy day care. More recently, however, her owner reported that she had started barking when seeing other dogs while out on walks.

A FEW BUMPS ALONG THE TRAIL…

Billie has a habit of chasing traffic, so her new family will need to be particularly careful when walking her around roads and passing vehicles.

And as for cats

Billie says this town ain’t big enough for the both of us!

She has met the centre cat and was very focused, so Billie will not be rehomed to live with cats.

COULD YOU BE BILLIE’S HAPPY-EVER-AFTER?

Billie may have a few verses in her story that need an understanding home, but she’s still a friendly girl with plenty to offer.

She’s looking for people who’ll respect her space around food, manage her carefully when she’s out and about, and give this country girl the security and companionship she needs.

She doesn’t need bright city lights or her name up in Nashville

Just a safe home, a comfy bed and someone to ride through life beside her.

Female 8 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Kenzie is an 8yr old neutered collie. She came into our care via another rescue after being with them for a year. She was originally rescued from a hoarding situation.

She is a friendly girl and should be suitable to live with older children. She responds to basic commands, plays with toys, travels well and is clean in kennels.

She does chase cats and can sometimes get frustrated around other dogs and on one occasion at the previous rescue when being walked by a volunteer she nipped her leg causing bruising and two shallow teeth marks. Kenzie can walk alongside some dogs without any issues and although she has lived with other dogs we feel she would be better as an only dog.

HOMING FEE £220

Bibi

Female 2 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Bibi is a 2yr old black and white short coated entire Border Collie Cross. She was transferred to us from a rescue in Ireland via her own home where she lived with her litter sister, we are told the owner was struggling to care for two dogs.

Bibi is a shy girl so she will require a calm and gentle owner who is willing to give her the time and space she requires to gain confidence. Once she knows you she is very affectionate and will seek attention.

She would be better suited to a quiet home without young children or regular visitors. She is worried around other dogs and if they approach her she does sometimes grumble at them. She is also worried going out for walks and so far has only been happy going out for short walks just outside of the kennel block.

Olive

Female 1 years

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Olive is an 20 month old Border Collie Cross. She was originally rescued from her home after a neighbour witnessed the male owner abusing her, he is now being prosecuted. She then spend 10 days in another home but as the property had a shared garden her owner didn't feel it was the right environment for Olive.

Understandably, Olive can get worried when first meeting new people but given time quickly makes friends. She will need an owner that understands her traumatic past and will have the patience to help her gain her confidence and offer her the love she deserves.

She does sometimes bark at other dogs but when in close contact interacts ok although doesn't really know how to behave. We are told she has lived with another dog.

She plays with toys and responds to basic commands.

Olive does struggle in a busy environment and easily gets over stimulated, in kennels she will often ragg the lead and sometimes staff members clothing but once away from the kennels quickly settles.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Jet is a 2 year old neutered collie. She originally came into our care via another rescue after she was found living in a horse trailer. She than spent 6mths in a home but was returned as her owners felt their home and life style wasn't right for her needs.

She is housetrained, is good when left alone for a few hours, travels very well and knows several commands. She does lunge at large vehicles when out walking but is ok with passing cars.

Having spent her early years locked away Jet missed out on being socialised and can be worried by people that suddenly reach out towards her and has been know to growl and snap if she feels threatened so requires an owner that understand her fear and is willing to work with her and avoid situations that she struggles with.

She is ok around calm non reactive dogs but if dogs pester her she again can become worried and will react.

Jet requires a quiet home without young children or frequent different visitors. Once she has built a bond with her owner she is very loyal and affectionate.
