Hello everyone my name is Billy. I am coded "Yellow". I am 8 years old and I have been neutered.

I was in a home for 6 years but then my dad became ill with Dementia. He would shout and scream which scared me as I didn't understand why he had changed. Then one day, when he was putting me in the car a male stranger walked down the neighbouring path and I jumped out and nipped him on the leg. Following this my life completely changed as my mum was scared that this could happen again and my dad could no longer care for me properly whilst she was at work. The neighbour reported the incident to the police and my mum and dad were told they had to keep me on a muzzle and a lead which my dad didn't fully understand and so didn't do.

My mum had no choice but to return me to the The Border Collie Trust, I tried to be as brave as I could but the truth is I am heartbroken and missing a family to love me. After being here nearly a year this June nobody will even give me a chance because of what I did and the effect it's had on me trusting people. I am now worried by men as I don't know what they might do but given a chance and time I know I could learn to trust again. I am well behaved within the home and I am good in the car. I love all the staff here and they give me lots of walks and affection. I have even made friends with some work experience students and was fine going to the vets for my booster vaccination. All I need is a little space and understanding to help me with my fears and a home without children, cats or other dogs.

Please someone give me a second chance and make my life complete again.

Just before I go you will need to come and visit me a few times and on the first meeting please don't try to touch me as I get very scared as I think you might hurt me. I have met a male stranger and because he didn't try to interact with me the first few meetings and allowed me to move at my own space I have decided I can trust him and he has now become my friend.

Hello everyone my name is Echo I don't really know how old I am as one vet suggested I may be 5 another thought 3/4yr so I'm going with the 2nd estimate.

I can't really remember much about my past but that's not a bad thing as when I was rescued I had a broken tail. I was taken to see a vet who said he would amputate it. I obviously had no idea what he meant until I woke up and realised what bits were missing, I will be more cautious next time I hear the words vet.

I spent a couple of months in a rescue in Ireland before coming here in January and although it's comfortable and all the humans seem to enjoy my company what I would really like is a home of my own in a quiet location with a garden to play in, I often dream about this but sadly my dreams never come true.

Different people have been to visit me but because I'm shy and don't approach straight away they say I'm not the dog for them. This always makes me sad as given a little time I know I can make friends I'm just worried that someone may hurt me again.

I prefer walking in quiet areas where there isn't too much traffic, people or other dogs as I do get scared by everything, except cats I like chasing them.

Please if anyone out there would be willing to give me a chance I know my confidence will come back I just need time and reassurance and someone to love me.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Hello everyone my name is Ollie I will be 2yrs old in August and would love to celebrate my birthday with a new family. I realise I'm not a collie but all the staff here love me and they are obviously all collie people so I'm just hoping someone out there will give me a chance too.

My first owner didn't know anything about dogs and when I used to jump up and Puppy Mouth or resource guard my things they didn't know what to do so put a collar on me which kept giving me a shock, I didn't understand what was happening and it just made me worse as I got scared. It was following this I found myself in a rescue centre as my family didn't want me anymore which made me very sad as I loved them all very much but I just didn't know how I was meant to behave.

I have spent the odd day in a home environment but have never been given the time to adapt or learn what I'm meant to do so just get sent back to rescue.

I am clean in the home but I do get over stimulated very quickly and will run around, humans say I do "zoomies" whatever that is ? I do still jump and nip and mouth but with the right training I know I can learn to control this as the staff here say I have improved so much. I love to play with other dogs and toys and I travel very well in the car.

Yours hopefully

Ollie

Oscar is coded "blue" he is a 1 year old entire black and white short coated collie. He was originally rescued from a high kill pound before being transferred into our care. He did spend 7 weeks in a home environment but did snap/bite at his carer on three occasions when put in situations that worried him. We haven't seen any of this behaviour whilst he has been in our care.

Oscar is a shy boy and will need space and time to adjust to a new life and requires an owner than can help build his trust so he can gain confidence.

He has come from a rural location and isn't used to being in busy built up areas so walks will need to be built up overtime so he doesn't get too overwhelmed by everything. Oscar is good around other dogs, is house trained, knows basic commands and likes to play ball. He is worried about getting into a vehicle and other small spaces. Chases cats.

Ralph is coded "Blue" he will be 3 years old in July he is a tri coloured medium coated collie cross. He was found straying and although chipped was never claimed.

Ralph is a nervous dog and will require an understanding/experienced owner that in the early days can give him the time and space he requires to gain trust in people as if worried he could snap but once he has built a relationship with someone he is a gentle friendly boy. Because of this he may require a few visits. He would be better suited to a quiet household without children.

He travelled well on a long journey to our care but was crated. On arrival he was nervous around staff and the following day was very stressed and did have a small seizure but this may have all been stress related as he has been fine since and the previous kennels said he had been fine whilst in their care.

Ralph has settle well with us and will now approach staff members and wag his tail and initiate contact.

PLEASE READ ALL THE INFORMATION ON HOW DO I ADOPT PAGE BEFORE CONTACTING US - Thank you. YOU WILL NEED TO TRAVEL TO OUR CENTRE WHICH IS BASED IN STAFFORDSHIRE.

Bastian is coded "blue" he is 3 year old neutered tri coloured short coated collie. He was a much loved family pet but sadly one of the children he lived with suffered a life threatening asthma attack and animals were found to be a trigger so sadly the family had to bring him into our care.

He was in another home for two days but on 2 occasions when he had just woke up and the female owner spoke to him Bastian jumped up and snapped at her hand/arm making contact. He also snapped at the male owner making contact and leaving a puncture wound when he tried to encourage him to drop a chicken wrapper he had taken from the bin. His original owner said they hadn't experienced anything like this with him but he had recently started food guarding when in the kitchen.

Bastian happily greets everyone he meets and has been fine towards all the staff whilst in kennels but obviously in a home environment may resource guard and require time to adjust when waking up.

He is house trained and crate trained, is good when left alone for a few hours, travels well, knows basic commands, tends to ignore other dogs when out walking but can sometimes snap when meeting them up close. He has lived with cats but the home he was in for 2 days although good with the cat indoors he did chase her outdoors.

Bastian has lived with young children and been fine with them but due to the above incident we wouldn't house with anyone under the age of 17yr.
