Alfie is a 4 year old entire collie cross. He originally came into our care after his owner was admitted into hospital. He then spent the last year in another home but they felt their environment was too busy for him due to having various visitors which Alfie found difficult and would often bark and lunge until he got to know them.

Alfie is a very shy boy but if given time soon warms up to people. He requires a quiet adult home and an owner that is willing to give him the space and time he requires to gain confidence. Everything needs to be done gradually with Alfie so he doesn't feel threatened or get put into situations he find difficult.

Alfie is housetrained, is good when left alone for a few hours, travels well, knows some basic commands and is ok around other dogs.

Hello my name is Sunny. I have spent the last 11yrs living happily alongside my Dad but he became very ill and one day was taken from our home and never returned, I was heartbroken.

After a few days my Dad's Grandson came to visit and took me out in the car and told me he was going to take somewhere where I could find a new home. A short time later I arrived at Border Collie Trust and within a few days a lovely man and his wife took me home, I was so happy and followed my new Dad everywhere. The only problem was I didn't really bond with his wife and would often growl at her - people think its because I was so used to living with just one person.

I have now found myself back in kennels and whilst everyone here is really nice I am feeling a little sad and I'm now beginning to wonder if I will ever find a person of my own.

I am very good indoors and only ever soil outside, I'm happy being left alone for a few hours and love to travel in the car. I tend to ignore other dogs out on a walk but do like to chase cats.

Murphy

Murphy recently arrived with us and is now searching for the loving home he truly deserves. Sadly, Murphy's past has not always been kind. We are told that he spent a period of time confined to a shed before concerned individuals stepped in to ensure he was brought to safety. Despite this difficult experience, Murphy has remained a friendly and affectionate dog with plenty of love still to give. Murphy is 4yrs old and has been neutered.

We are told that Murphy is good with both people and other dogs, and that he travels well. Since arriving with us, he has shown himself to be a confident character who enjoys exploring his surroundings and spending time with people. He particularly enjoys a fuss and is happy to seek out attention from those around him.

Murphy walks well overall, although he can be a little strong on the lead at times. He is an intelligent boy who listens well and is keen to engage with his handler. While he currently doesn't show much interest in toys or treats and doesn't appear to know any formal commands, he has plenty of potential and will benefit from continued guidance and training in his new home.

Murphy has settled well into kennel life, keeping his kennel clean and adapting quickly to his new routine. When out and about, he can be vocal towards other dogs, so any introductions should be managed appropriately while we continue to learn more about him.

Murphy is a bright, confident dog who has overcome a challenging start and is now ready to enjoy the security, comfort, and companionship of a home. With patience, kindness, and a family willing to invest in him, Murphy has all the makings of a wonderful companion.

Hello, I’m Bayley!

I’m a 5 year old neutered Collie Cross, and I’ve had quite the journey. I originally came to the rescue because my humans weren't feeling well enough to look after me. I've spent a very short time in two further homes, but I got worried around new people and did growl and snap.

I can be a bit unsure when meeting strangers, so I’ll need someone patient who can let me come to them in my own time but once I'm confident you're not a threat i will be your best friend. I do best in a calm home without lots of visitors or young children, where I can feel safe and relaxed.

The good news? I’m housetrained, I know some basic commands, I love playing with toys, I travel well, and I sleep peacefully through the night. I tend to avoid other dogs, though I might react if they react to me first, and I’m a little nervous around traffic and loud noises — so slow and steady wins the day with me!

If you’re willing to give me time, patience, and lots of gentle reassurance, I’d love to show you what a loyal and loving companion I can be. I might need you to visit me more than once so I can really get to know you before you take me home.

Hello, I’m Bobby! I’m a 5 year old tri coloured Border Collie. I came into care because my previous owner couldn’t give me enough time due to work. I had a 7-week stay with another family, but it didn’t quite work out as I got a bit defensive with the lady of the house when she tried to correct me but when dad was around I felt much happier around her.

I’m a friendly guy when meeting people, I am housetrained, happy to be left alone for a few hours, and I travel well. I can be a little unsure around other dogs at first and often bark but once introduced correctly I can be ok but I may not live with others. I do have a bit of a chase instinct when it comes to cats.

I’m looking for a patient and understanding family who can help me feel confident and loved.

Teddy is an 8yr old neutered collie. He originally came into our care as his owner was moving house and couldn't take Teddy with her. He was in another home for a week but was returned as he snapped at a stranger when she reached out to stroke him and also at a man that entered the garden and again reached out to touch him. Teddy was fine with people that gave him time to approach them and was very affectionate towards the man he was living with.

Teddy would be better suited to a quiet home in a more rural location as this is what he has been used to and a home without young children or lots of visitors.

He is housetrained, is good when left alone, travels well, responds to basic commands and is ok meeting other dogs out on walk.

Charlie is a 2 year old neutered Collie Cross. Before coming to us he spent his life living on a small holding in a secluded setting amongst several other dogs.

Charlie has no real life experience of the world outside of where he lived and had never been on a lead. It took us several weeks to gain his trust enabling us to then gently handle him, since then he has made good progress and now happily greets and interacts well with staff. He will happily go out for walk and spends time playing with dogs that he has built a relationship with.

He requires a quiet home environment and an owner that understands his needs and is willing to give him all the time and patience he requires.

Caleb is almost 2yrs old he came into our care from his own home as he bit the 12yr old child on the arm when he pulled him from behind to prevent him going through the front door.

Although shy Caleb has never shown any signs of aggression to anyone before apart from barking at delivery men. He would benefit from a quiet environment where he can have time to adjust to a new home and people.

Caleb is house trained and crate trained, responds to all basic commands and is good around other dogs. He is ok travelling in a vehicle but does sometimes salivate.

Ernie is a 5yr old neutered collie cross. He came into our care from his own home due to a change in his owners circumstances.

He is housetrained, is good when left alone for a few hours, responds to basic commands and travels well.

Ernie is shy meeting strangers and does sometimes bark so will need a little space and time. He also gets worried by visitors to the home so would be better suited to a quiet environment without young children.

He is shy around other dogs and does chase traffic.

(He will require a few visits)
